The FSA (Football Supporters’ Association reports.
On Tuesday the Government – at last! – launched legislation in Parliament to introduce an Independent Football Regulator into our game.
At that point it was 1,066 days since greedy owners tried to form the breakaway European Super League which highlighted the need for an independent regulator to rein in the biggest clubs.
As well as blocking clubs from joining a breakaway league the regulator provides an opportunity to stop clubs being run into the ground, protect the heritage of clubs and give supporters a much bigger voice in the running of the game.
The FSA and our supporters’ groups have been central to this process. Hundreds of FSA groups gave evidence to the Fan-led Review of Football Governance and we’re very proud of the role that everyone played.
