Saturday vs Wolves was as routine a win as you can expect in the Premier League, Saka and Havertz combining not once but twice. Ødergaard relentless – where does he get that energy to keep at it for the whole game – Partey and Saliba a bit off the pace…. what is there to say?
In fact, if you were at the stadium, it was almost impossible to say anything! After years of not being able to hear the interviews and announcements over the public address system, on Saturday, the volume was eardrum shattering. If I only had an app that could measure volume and what levels damage hearing. It would have been close to bending the needle, that’s for sure. One wonders what it takes to get a decent balance between audible and excruciating!
Added to that, the design team has been at their keyboards again, and come up with the thinnest and smallest font for the team sheets on the big screens. They probably look great in a design studio but across a pitch, to all but those who professed to be long-sighted, they were unreadable. OK, so we all know the Arsenal players without having to check a big screen, but the away team? It’s sometimes handy to know who’s supposed to be good!
Add that to the subtitling for the hearing impaired which, for some of the big screen content, was so small that you’d probably struggle to read it if you were standing directly in front of the screen, one wonders what’s happened to the idea of exclusivity. Design before function. Or someone given the project for work experience?
And what’s happened to the little electric clock on the centre circle (west stand). We know there’s a big one over the clock end, but if you want to know the actual time (or you’re in the clock end itself) it was really handy. And don’t mention the one on the big screens. The designers have moved their position so they’re out of sight to many people in the stadium. Leave things alone that worked previously, please guys!
Rest assured, if you were affected, we’re raising it all with the club.
Oh, the game? Yes, three points. Only another thirty-seven to go!
