The organising company of the failed breakaway European Super League, A22, is back in the news, with a new version of their terrible idea, the FSA (football Supporters’ Association reports).
A22 say the new Super League would contain 60 to 80 teams, each guaranteed a minimum of 14 matches per season while continuing to play in their domestic leagues. Though they said it would not be a closed league, A22 did not provide more specifics on the format beyond that.
Needless to say this new proposal, which none of the original breakaway clubs back (apart from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus), has proved just as unpopular amongst football supporters.

“Their newest idea is to have an ‘open competition’ rather than the closed shop they originally proposed that led to huge fan protests.
“Of course an open competition for Europe’s top clubs already exists – it’s called the Champions League.

AISA is fully behind the FSA’s actions in opposing and rejecting a European Super League.
