Saka in running for notable double

Edited from Friday’s London Evening Standard

Arsenal players dominate the nominees at this year’s London Football Awards, while Mikel Arteta heads the shortlist for Manager of the Year.

Bukayo Saka has been nominated for both Player and Young Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season, and Martin Odegaard joins him on the senior shortlist.

Saka’s club-mates William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli are up for Young Player of the Year.

Arsenal’s Beth Mead is aiming to follow up her Sports Personality of the Year award with another top gong, and is among the nominees for Women’s Super League Player of the Year. She is joined on the shortlist by team-mate Kim Little.

The goal of the season award will be decided by public votes, with Arsenal Women’s Laura Wienroither in the running. Click here to see the nominees (and vote from February 6).

The winners will be voted on by a group of judges from football governance and media and announced on March 13 at the Roundhouse in Camden. All income raised from the night goes to charity Willow.
